Prospective students or applicants are required to take an Accuplacer exam as part of the entrance requirements for the Cardiovascular Technology and the Medical Assistant Associate Degree programs along with the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Bachelor Degree program. In order to be admitted to the Cardiovascular Technology (CVT-AAS) and the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS-BS) programs the applicant’s scores must take the Accuplacer Exam. Applicants who score 69 (or lower) in any or all of the areas must take and pass developmental courses (Developmental Reading or ENG 099, Developmental Writing or ENG 098, and Elementary Algebra or MAT 099) before being allowed to take college level courses in English and math. Follow this link to see what each program’s entrance requirements and guidelines are.
An Accuplacer exam can also be waived for a few reasons including a Combined SAT score of 1100 or better (if applicable) with a minimum of 500 in each section of the verbal and math tests. Scores are valid for five (5) years from date of testing. (Click Here for all of the reasons an Accuplacer can be waived) See below for some details on the Accuplacer exam before test day!
What is an Accuplacer?
Exam taken by an applicant preparing to enroll in college-level courses at Eastern International College amongst other schools to determine prospective students’ knowledge levels in math, reading, and writing. The exam is not timed and applicants are given a chance to complete the entire exam in one sitting.
There are several preparation tools available for the exam. Here are three apps that can help: The Official Accuplacer iPhone App, The Accuplacer Web-Based study app, and the Accuplacer My Foundations Lab App. Click Here for more resources
