Copyright Policy

The creation of outlines, guides, exams, other learning and teaching materials, and administrative materials of a printed or other nature shall be a normal part of the content and function of any teaching/instructional or administrative position at Eastern International College. Any such learning, teaching, or administrative materials produced by an employee of Eastern International College in the normal course of his/her work shall be the property of and copyright of Eastern International College. Any copyright applied for and secured in relationship to such materials shall be the property of Eastern International College. Employees are not permitted to use such materials for any reason outside of their employment with Eastern International College. Additionally, upon an employee’s resignation or an employee’s termination of employment with Eastern International College, such employee is not permitted to use such learning and teaching materials and/or administrative materials created while in Eastern International College’s employ. Violation of this policy shall result in disciplinary action, including possible termination, and/or legal action against the employee or former employee, depending upon the circumstances.

Social Media Policy


Eastern International College recognizes the importance of social media as a communication tool. Employees should also keep in mind that once information appears online, it becomes part of a permanent record, even if it is later deleted. Everything written on the Internet leaves a digital footprint that can be traced back to its author. To that end, this Policy establishes the position for the College on the use of social media for the official business purposes of Eastern International College, including the promotion of the College, departments and offices, programming, faculty and staff.


This policy applies to the College community including, but not limited to, administrators, faculty (including non-compensated faculty), and staff. The College respects your right to interact knowledgeably and socially, however interaction with social media can greatly impact you, our colleagues and our students. Therefore, the entire College community has a responsibility to maintain the integrity of the institution no matter where, when or how they interact with social media.

Any social media postings by an employee shall be consistent with the College’s policies including, but not limited to, the College’s anti-harassment and non-discrimination policies as well as the College’s policies regarding the non-disclosure of private and confidential information pursuant to Federal and State laws. The Campus Director is responsible for the enforcement of this policy and can be a resource to the College community for launching social media initiatives. The College has the right to amend this policy at any time. Failure to comply with this policy will be considered actionable behavior by senior management and could result in disciplinary action up to and including suspension or termination, and in some cases civil and/or criminal liability.

When communicating in social media, employees must act at their own peril. Employees must never engage in communication which injures the reputation of the College or its students or which discloses confidential information. The employee’s position at the College may be impacted by their personal internet present and activities.

For the purpose of this policy, “social media” refers to, but is not limited to following:

1. Social Media Channels: Blogs (web-based journals), micro-blogs(e.g. Tumblr), wikis(e.g., Wikipedia, etc.), social networks(e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, social bookmarking services, podcasts (multimedia distributed over the internet), video sharing (e.g., YouTube), and photo sharing (e.g. Instagram) user rating services and any other online collaboration, sharing or publishing platform, whether accessed through the web, a mobile device, text messaging, email or any other existing or emerging communications platform.

2. Social Media Account: A personalized presence inside a social networking channel, initiated at will by an individual. YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other social networking channels allow users to sign-up for their own social media account, which the user can use to collaborate, interact and share content and status updates. When a user communicates through a social media account, their disclosures are attributed to their User Profile.

3. Social Media Disclosures: Blog posts, blog comments, status updates, text messages, posts via email, images, audio recordings, video recordings or any other information made available through a social media channel. Social media disclosures are the actual communications a user distributes through a social media channel, usually by means of their social media account.

4. External vs. Internal Social Media Channels: External social media channels are social media services that do not reside at a domain. Internal social media channels are located at a company- owned domain, require a password to access and are only visible to employees and other approved individuals.

5. User Profile: Social Media Account holders customize their User Profile within a Social Media Channel with specific information about themselves which can be made available others users.

6. Copyright: Copyright protects the right of an author to control the reproduction and use of any creative expression that has been fixed in tangible form, such as literary works, graphical works, photographic works, audiovisual works, electronic works and musical works. It is illegal to reproduce and use copyrighted material through social media channels without the permission of the copyright owner.

7. Hosted Content: Text, pictures, audio, video or other information in digital form that is uploaded and resides in the social media account of the author of a social media disclosure. If you download content off of the Internet, and then upload it to your social media account, you are hosting that content. This distinction is important because it is generally illegal to host copyrighted content publicly on the Internet without first obtaining the permission of the copyright owner.

8. Embed Codes: Unique codes that are provided to entice others to share online content without requiring the sharer to host that content. By means of an embed code, it is possible to display a YouTube user’s video in someone else’s social media account without requiring that person to host the source video file. This distinction is important because embed codes are often used by copyright owners to encourage others to share their content via social media channels.

9. Controversial Issues: Issues that form the basis of heated debate, often identified in political campaigns as wedge issues, since they provoke a strong emotional response. Examples include political views, health care reform, gun control and abortion. Religious beliefs may also be controversial, particularly to those intolerant of beliefs different from their own.

10. Official Content: Publicly available online content created and made public by our company, verified by virtue of the fact that it is accessible through our corporate website.

11. Inbound Links: An inbound link is a hyperlink that transits from one domain to another. A hyperlink that transits from an external domain to your own domain is referred to as inbound link. Inbound links are important because they play a role in how search engines rank pages and domains in search results.

12. Link Bartering Exchanges: Trading or purchasing inbound links from other domains exclusively for the purposes of lifting your domain in search engine page results.

13. Tweets and Retweets: A tweet is a 140 character social media disclosure distributed on the Twitter micro-blogging service. Retweets are tweets from one Twitter user that are redistributed by another Twitter user. Retweets are how information propagates on Twitter.

The absence of, or lack of explicit reference to a specific site does not limit the extent of the application of this policy.

Refund Policy:

Refund Policy

Eastern International College participates in the United States Department of Education student aid program and is required to comply with the Higher Education Amendments of 2005. The legislation requires the College to offer a refund policy that provides the most beneficial refund to students. A refund is the difference between the amount the student paid to the school (including financial aid) and the amount the College can retain as prescribed by the appropriate refund policy. Refund calculations are made in accordance with the following policies:

  • The Return of Title IV Funds Policy , the Return of State Aid (TAG) Policy, and/or the Tuition Refund Policy for Cash Students listed below.
  • If the College permanently closes and no longer offers instruction after a student enrolled, the student shall be entitled to a pro-rata refund of tuition.
  • If a program is canceled subsequent to a student’s enrollment, the College shall opt to:
  • Provide a full refund of money paid; or
  • Provide for the completion of the program
  • If there is a delay in starting dates 14 days or less based on under-enrollment or facilities issues, it will not affect the refund policies. However, if the delay is more than 14 days, the student may cancel this Agreement within three (3) days of being notified of the delay and request a refund of all money paid.

Effective February 1, 2006, a student’s enrollment will be terminated when

  • the student gives notification of his/her intent to withdraw, or
  • the student has fourteen (14) consecutive absences without establishing an approved leave of absence.

Students who drop individual classes but are otherwise enrolled at the College will not receive a refund or adjustment if they drop the class(es) after the last day of the drop and add period for the specific term, as stated on the academic calendar. However, refunds are available to students who withdraw or are withdrawn from the College prior to the completion of their program based on the Return of Title IV Funds Policy, the Return of State Aid (TAG) Policy, and/or the Tuition Refund Policy for Cash Students described below.

Refunds are based on the total charge incurred by the Student at the time of withdrawal, not the amount the Student has actually paid. Tuition and fees attributable to any term beyond the term of withdrawal will be refunded in full. However, any books, equipment, and/or uniforms that have been issued are usually nonrefundable. When a Student withdraws from the institution, he/she must complete a student withdrawal form with the College. The College will process and post refunds within forty-five (45) days from the determination date—the date on which the College determines that the student’s enrollment should be terminated. The student’s withdrawal date—the date on which enrollment is deemed to have ended—will be the same as the determination date in those cases where the student gives notice. When the student does not give notice, the withdrawal date will be the first class day following the student’s fourteenth (14th) consecutive absence.

Return of Title IV Funds Policy

A return of Title IV funds calculation, as required by federal regulations, will be used to determine how much Title IV aid has been earned by the student, and how much, if any, the College and/or student/parent must return to the Department of Education. Under current federal regulations, the amount of aid earned is calculated on a pro rata basis through 60% of the term. After the 60% point in the term, a Student has earned 100% of the Title IV funds. Federal regulations require the return to Title IV funds in the following order, if applicable: Unsubsidized loans, Subsidized loans, Plus loans, Pell grants, SEOG, or other Title IV.

Return of State Aid (TAG) Policy

For State aid recipients for whom a refund is required, the College follows HESAA’s regulations regarding calculation of refund in accordance with N.J.A.C. 9A:9-2.12 (Award adjustments, refunds, and collections). The refund to the State represents its “fair share” of the total available refund as determined by the institutional refund policy. To calculate the amount to be refunded to the State, the College multiplies the institutional refund by the following formula: amount of State aid awarded for the payment period divided by the total amount of financial aid awarded for the period.

If a state aid recipient changes enrollment status after the end of the institutional refund period has ended, a refund to the State is not required as long as the disbursement date of state funds has been made to the students account prior to the date of the change of status.

Tuition Refund Policy for Cash Students

Any students paying cash that officially withdraw from a course or the College may receive a refund of tuition, according to the refund policy and schedule established by the College. The following schedule shall be used in the calculation of refunds for students who pay cash:

  • Withdrawal during the first week of the semester
  • Withdrawal during the second week of semester
  • Withdrawal during the third and fourth week of semester
  • Withdrawal after the fourth week of semester

Transfer of Credit Policy

A student may apply to transfer coursework successfully completed at another accredited college. Upon review of the previous program curriculum, a determination to accept transfer of coursework will be made. Approval to transfer coursework is based upon program type, grade in the course, length of the course, course description, credit hours, and other factors. Transferring coursework may have an impact on credits in relation to financial aid determination.

Specifically, students who have completed coursework at another accredited post-secondary institution with a grade of “C” or better may apply to have those credits evaluated for transfer. This evaluation must conform to the following conditions:

  1. Credits can only be awarded on the basis of an official transcript.
  2. Science courses (Anatomy and Physiology) musthave been taken within the past five years from the date of acceptance. Technical courses can be transferred upon the discretion of the Admissions Committee.
  3. Only a course that covers essentially the same content as one taught at Eastern International College can be considered for transfer credit.
  4. At minimum 25% of the credits required for a degree program must be completed at Eastern International College when credits are being transferred from external institutions.
  5. Some specialized subjects may require more than one semester’s study. When this is the case, at least the highest course in that series must be taken at Eastern International College.
  6. It is the student’s responsibility to have the official transcript transmitted to the Registrar at Eastern International College prior to the start of their program in accordance with EIC policy.
  7. Official transcripts submitted electronically must be digitally signed and secured by an Adobe Acrobat Blue Ribbon ® digital certificate. Official transcripts must be sent from the originating institution utilizing the Adobe Blue Ribbon ® certification. Any alteration or modification will render the transcript invalid.

Graduates from the EIC Associate degree programs will be exempted from the 5-year limit requirement for BIO101 and/or BIO102 (effective Fall 2016)

EIC alumni who are applying for admission to the Nursing or Dental Hygiene programs are still subject to the HESI score requirements as noted in the EIC transfer credit policies for these programs.

A degree earned outside the United States must be evaluated using one of the approved evaluating companies, such as WES, ECE, etc. for US degree equivalency. Transcript evaluation is the responsibility of the applicant.

For transfer consideration of foreign-earned credits, prospective students must have their post-secondary transcripts translated and evaluated course-by-course by either World Education Services (WES), Global Credential Evaluators, Inc. (GCE), or Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) evaluation services. Credit earned must be equivalent to the EIC course, and subject to all other applicable transfer credit policies(i.e. HESI score, 5-yr limit, etc.). Major/Technical courses are not eligible for transfer.

Experiential Learning

Eastern International College does not offer credit for experiential learning.

Transfer Credit Policy for Nursing-AAS, and Dental Hygiene-AAS

Aside from the policy above, Nursing and Dental Hygiene follows the following guidelines for credit transfer:

  1. Nursing accepts a maximum of 21 and Dental Hygiene 21 general education credits ( effective Fall 2014). Nursing and Dental Hygiene courses cannot be transferred.
  1. Transfer credit for science courses (Anatomy and Physiology I & II, Microbiology, and Chemistry) will be accepted if the course was taken no more than five years ago.
  1. Transfer credit for Anatomy and Physiology I & II (A & P) will be accepted only if the student passed the A & P section of the HESI A2 entrance examination with a score of 70 or higher. A student who scores below 70 in A & P will be required to repeat A & P irrespective of the fact that the student took the class before. If the student took and passed A&P I and A&P II (with a grade of “C” or better) from another accredited college but scored less than 70 in the A&P section of the HESI A2, the student will be required to repeat A&P II. ( prior to Spring 2016)
  1. Transfer credit for English Composition I and II will be accepted if the student passed the English section of the HESI A2 entrance examination with a composite score of 70 or higher. A student with a score below 70 in English will be required to repeat English Composition irrespective of the fact that the student took the class before. If the student took and passed ENG 101 and ENG 102 (with a grade of “C” or better) from another accredited college but attained a composite score less than 70 in the English Language section of the HESI A2, the student will be required to repeat ENG 102.
  1. Transfer credit for Mathematics (College Algebra) will be accepted if the student passed the Math section of the HESI A2 entrance examination with a composite score of 70 or higher. A student with a score below 70 in Math will be required to repeat College Algebra irrespective of the fact that the student took the class before.

Students who complete the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) are eligible for credit at Eastern International College. Credits will be given to exam courses meeting all requirements below:

Students may only transfer credits from the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) up to the maximum transfer credit limit for their program in accordance with EIC transfer credit policy ( effective Fall 2016).

Credits Transfer through Advanced Placement (AP) Examination.

A student who finished an Advanced Placement (AP) course and took the AP examination with a score of “3” or better is eligible for credit at Eastern International College. AP courses must conform to the transfer credit policy of EIC.

International Students

Eastern International College welcomes internationalstudents. Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents will be assisted in meeting the requirements of the U.S. Immigration Service. All applicants who wish to receive an I-20 must be able to prove financial support to cover the tuition and local living expenses for each year at Eastern International College. Non-native English speakers must submit results of the TOEFL paper-administered test with scores of a minimum of 500, or 200 minimum score on the TOEFL computer-administered test for admission. Additionally, a certified translation must be submitted for all documents written in languages other than English.

Non-Matriculated Students

Students seeking to participate in specific coursework while not pursuing a degree may do so if admitted to the specific course by satisfying all prerequisites for the course, and by being admitted as a special non-matriculated student.

When non-matriculated students wish to change to matriculated student status, they must satisfy all college admissions requirements. Credit for courses previously passed at Eastern International College may be applied towards matriculation.
