“Basic Research Methods“
Did you just get an assignment, but you’re not really sure where to begin finding information about your topic? Then this workshop is perfect for you. Basic methods of research using both digital and electronic sources, e.g. ProQuest and Ebrary, in addtion to this students will practice learning Library World, which is EIC’s online access catalog. We’ll also discuss picking a topic and narrowing down a topic and other specific questions as they arise.
APA (American Psychological Association) is the citation format used at EIC. This workshop will cover the basics of APA formatting, including in-text citations and proper formatting for references.
“Avoiding Plagiarism and Maintaining Academic Integrity”
Giving credit where it’s due is not only extremely important, but absolutely necessary. Plagiarizing the work of other authors can lead to a variety of outcomes- the least of which being failing a paper. This workshop will discuss how to avoid plagiarism and proper ways to credit others works.
This workshop will emphasize the ability to use information wisely by recognizing the extent and nature of what is needed , and then locate, evaluate and effectively use the needed information. The ethical issues related to information will also be discussed.
